Het datacenter waar de server staat die het forum draait heeft woensdag een probleem gehad met een UPS:

At 5 pm (CEST) there was a power failure in a section of our datacenter SXB,
which was caused by an error in the UPS (Uninterruptible power supply).
In the meantime, we switched the UPS into a bypass.
The affected servers will be restarted step by step. Therefore it may take
some time in individual cases until your product is available again.
We are working with the highest priority to make the services available again.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this.

Helaas heeft het wel erg lang geduurd voordat de server terug in de lucht was en dus ook het Xantia forum. De uptime van de server is nu 2 uur dus om 4:30 is ie pas weer gestart, ongeveer 36 uur na het uitvallen. Dat is een absurd lange downtime.

De correcte benaming is dus IPS? ( Interruptible Power Supply)

Als ik terugdenk aan mijn laatste bezoek aan het adres van Jeroen, wordt ik weer boos.

Ik heb het net even nagekeken. Ik heb deze server vanaf 6 september 2013. Sindsdien heb ik nooit eerder downtime meegemaakt.

Ik kreeg overigens vrijdag nog een mailtje van de provider:

On Wednesday, October 14th, 2020, at about 5pm (CEST), a power failure occurred in a section of our European datacenter SXB, which was caused by an error in the UPS (uninterruptible power supply).
The power supply could be restored within a very short time by switching to bypass.
Afterwards, our technicians restarted all affected servers.
In the process, various hardware defects were identified, which had to be repaired individually for the affected servers.

With a few exceptions, which we are still actively working on, all systems are back online.
If you are still experiencing problems with your Dedicated Server, we would like to ask you to open a support ticket in the PowerPanel.

We would like to take this opportunity to expressly apologize for the outage and all inconveniences caused by this.
We are always working on improving our systems and infrastructure to prevent such incidents.

Dat de melding in de browser anders was dan bij het oude forum klopt: de DNS server draait bij een andere provider (hostnet) en die bleef natuurlijk gewoon werken. Alleen de webserver zelf kon geen antwoord geven.

Daarom hebben meer professionele servers dubbele voedingen.

Beide in een andere UPS, of één in de UPS en één direct in het lichtnet.
